Biography

Born and raised in Southborough, Walter settled in Marlborough after marriage and worked as a shoemaker for various companies.

He worked for a time as an operator at the South Abington (Massachusetts) Railroad Station before an experiment with the LDS faith.

Moving to Salt Lake City, he worked at the Zion's Co-operative Mercantile Institution for several years before moving back to Massachusetts and Marlborough.

He died after an accident at work. He accidentally embedded a rusty tack in his left hand. The wound became infected and five weeks later, he died of blood poisoning.

Walter is buried with his wife in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
