Biography
John Jerningham was a member of the aristocracy in England.
John Jernegan, of Somerleyton, Esq. m. Catherine Brooke, da. of George Brooke 9th Baron Cobham.

- Frances m. (1) Thomas Bedingfeld Esq of Oxburgh 2s. and (2) her cousin Henry Jerningham of Cossey, Norfolk who sold Somerleyton to John Wentworth, Esq (d. 1619).
- Margaret m. Thomas Forth of Butley
Notes
in 1570, he was found guilty of abetting treasonous riots at Norwich but was pardoned, after which he retired to Somerleyton with his wife. By the early 1590s, he was on recusant lists and fled to the King of Spain.
