Edna J. Hodges Mrs. Edna J. Hodges, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2009. Her Home-going Celebration will be conducted on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the chapel of Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 2220 Soutel Drive, just West of Lem Turner Road. Dr. James Peoples, Dr. Robert Davis and Dr. Jim Tatum will officiate the services. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Hodges had resided in Jacksonville for 72 years and was a former member of Berea Baptist Church where she invited Jesus into her heart and met Harmon Hodges, her loving husband of 34 years, predeceased in 1970. Her current membership is at First Baptist Church in downtown Jacksonville. Edna was best known for her loving devotion to her family and to others who were in need, especially the bedridden with terminal illnesses. She was the epitome of a committed servant to her Lord, children, extended family and friends. God blessed Edna and Harmon with a daughter Shirley Jordan (Stan), a son Gene Hodges (Leanne) and adopted daughter Darthey Benton. Along with her immediate family, she is survived by brothers: Fred Johns (Lillian), Joe Johns (Emily); sister-in-law Frances Hodges Tucker; grandchildren: Donna (Jimmy), Connie, Becky, Joni (Mike), Julie, Jeannie (James); great grandchildren: Riley, Heather, Samuel, Kala, Michael, Anna, Lauren, Joshua, Emily, Nikki, Dana and Jacob as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 7 PM until 9 PM at PEEPLES FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, North Jacksonville Chapel, 2220 Soutel Drive, just West of Lem Turner Road.
