Mary was born about 1824 in Denton, Lancashire (near Manchester). In the absence of a verifiable birth or christening record, this information comes from census and marriage records. We know from her marriage record that her father is Robert, but we have been unable to identify her mother.
On 3 May 1852, Mary married Abraham Hatfield in Manchester, and they would become the parents of 3 children who were born between 1854 and 1861.
Research Note
We are unable to locate a verifiable death record for Mary. She appeared in the 1881 census, but the 1891 census record for husband Abraham shows that he is widowed by that time. We have seen a plausible record which suggests that Mary may have died near Manchester in 1886, but this is not verifiable. For now we have shown her death date as being 'before 1891'.
