Marriage Husband William Jackson Johnson. Wife Frances Carroll. Child: Elvira Johnson. Child: @I433@. Child: William Jackson Johnson. Child: Jackson Johnson. Child: Mary Johnson. Child: Rufus G. Johnson. Child: Martha Jane Johnson. Child: Cullen Johnson. Child: Ruffen Johnson. Child: Frances J. Johnson. Marriage 26 DEC 1824. Wilcox Co, AL. Note: The marriage record in Wilcox Co states that she was "Mrs. Francis Carroll" in one place (in the reocrd of the marriage having been performed by the JP, at which time she would have already been married). In the marriage bond, she was referred to as "Miss Frances Carroll.". 3 Further evidence that Carroll was the maiden name of Frances comes from an old letter in which two sisters of Frances are mentioned, Margaret Stevenson and Sarah Wood. Both of these women appear in the marriage records of Wilcox Co as Carrolls--Margaret Carroll (married Benjamin Stevenson) and Mary Carroll (married Jesse Stroud). Therefore, it is almost certain that Frances's maiden name was Carroll and was the daughter of Dempsey Carroll Jr.[2]
