Biography

Peter was born in 1885 in Denmark. His parents were Anders Peter Jensen (aka Johnson) and Bodil Marie (aka Maria) Andersen.[1]

He married Dagmar Slifsgard on 31 Dec 1908 in Fredsville, Grundy County, Iowa.[2][3] In 1910, they were living in Johnston, Macon County, Missouri, and had one child, Arnold.[4] Peter was a farmer. By 1920, they had moved to Grant, Grundy County, Iowa. The household included their five children, Peter's mother, Marie Johnson, and a hired hand, Viggo Johannens.[5] By 1925, Dagmar was a widow and had moved to Beaman in Grundy County.[6]

The couple was named as the parents in the following births of their children:

  • Vernon Truelsen Johnson, 29 Mar 1912 in Grundy County, Iowa[7]
  • Hazel Marie Johnson, 07 Jul 1916 in Grant County, Iowa[8]
  • Roger Glen Johnson, 12 May 1919 in Grant Township, Grundy County, Iowa[9]
  • Ruth Alta Johnson, 21 Dec 1920 in Grant Township, Grundy County, Iowa[10]
  • Helen Elaine Johnson, 27 Dec 1922 in Dike, Grundy County, Iowa[11]

Peter passed away in 1924 in Iowa. His Iowa death record states he died in Dike, Grundy County, Iowa, while his Find A Grave memorial lists his place of death as Fredsville, Grundy County, Iowa.[15] Burial was in the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Grundy County, Iowa.[16]
