Biography

William was born in Missouri in 1857. He was the son of Jarvis Johnson and Hester Jackson. His mother died when he was two years old and his father moved his children to the Utah Territory in 1860. In 1877 William married Katie Matilda Ellen Wickham and together they were parents of eleven children. In 1898 the LDS Church sent William on a mission to California. They were early pioneers and farmers near Rigby, Idaho where William passed away in 1923 at age 66.

Notes

  • The indexed Marriage source date of 27 Jul 1887 listed here is not correct They were married with a 2 year old in the1880 census and gave number of years married as 23 in the 1900 census. Marriage date posted on William’s obit info, by family to findagrave and in FamilySearch is given as 10 Nov 1877.
  • William and Katie and their two year old son William are listed in the 1880 Census in Idaho and in the 1880 Census in Utah. Both had identical info of names, dates, places of birth of themselves and their parents. The counts were performed 10 Jun 1880 in Idaho and 15 & 16 Jun in Utah. Was this a mistake or did they move 50 miles and let themselves be counted again 6 days later?
