Johan was born in 1732 on Jokihongo Farm, Ikaalinen Parish (later Isojoki Parish), Finland[1]. Later on, this farm becomes part of Isojoki Parish and then Honkajoki Parish. In 1760, he married Lisa Kodesjoensuu[2]. By 1770, the part of Jokihongo Farm where Johan lives, along with his parents, is referred to as ("gla gård", or "old house")[3] (later alternates are "Vanha Honko" and "Iso Honko"). He lived on this farm his entire life, passing away in 1813 at age 81[4].
Research Notes
His last name at birth is chosen based on his christening record. This farm changes names several times in the records from Jokihongo to Jokihongä to Storhongo to Hongo. In Finnish, the last part of the name appears as "Honka". The parish changes from Ikaalinen to Isojoki to Honkajoki.
