Herschel was born in 1918 to Edgar Wilson Jones and Ada Bell Minix.^[1]

Herschel married first Marion Smith on 24 Feb 1940 in Munford, Hart, Kentucky.^[2] Herschel married 2nd Mary Neal Garrison Johnson on 19 Aug 1944 in Franklin, Simpson, Kentucky.^[3] He also married Mary Spencer whom he stayed with until they both passed away.
