Birth and Family

William was born about 1853 (depending on the source) in Georgia.

On 18 July 1870, Judge Jones (age 19) lived in Harris County, Georgia with his parents John and Mary Jones and sister Lucy. The members of the family were farm laborers.^[1]

Marriage and Family

Judge married Mary (name unreadable on the marriage certificatem but appears to be Huebers[?]) on 18 January 1876. ^[2]

In June 1880, Judge and Mary Jones and their children Mollie, Lilly, Fletcher, and Laura, and Mary's mother Dicy McGehee lived in Ellerslie, Harris County, Georgia. All family members were born in Georgia. Judge, Mary, and Dicey were farm laborers. The family of Albert McGehee (age 37) was nearby and likely was related.^[3]

On 8 June 1900, Judge (age 47) and Mary Jones and their children Mandy, Frank, Ella, Joseph, Henry, Abbie, and Otis lived in Meadow Crossroads, Lee County, Alabama. Mary reported she had had 10 children and all were living, The couple has been married 25 years. Judge was a farmer and Frank, Ella, and Joseph were farm laborers. ^[4] The seven children living at home are:

Research Notes

Son William Fletcher Jones's Social Security application lists his father's first name as William. However, the 1870, 1880, and 1900 censuses list his name as Judge. ^[5] is his family or not. As such, I've removed "Judge" from his middle name until a more conclusive source can be found, and have marked the daughters as uncertain parentage, as they may not be part of Fletcher's family.
