Biography

Larry James Jordan died in Okmulgee on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 71 years of age. Larry was born in Okmulgee on December 8, 1941 to James Burt and Anna Lucille (Baxter) Jordan. He was a graduate of Okmulgee High School Class of 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Marine doing four tours in Vietnam. After time in the military reserves, he got his Associates Degree in Plumbing and Pipefitting at OSU Tech in Okmulgee. On December 20, 1969 he married Eleanor Louise Nelson. Larry was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to the casino. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family that he loved so much. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Anna Jordan and his in-laws: Bill and Rose Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Ellie of the home, one daughter Jeanne Mills and husband James of Fredericksburg, Virginia and one son Michael Jordan and wife Stacy of Joshua, Texas, five grandchildren: Christopher Mills, April Walker-Jordan, Jamie Jordan, Tyler Jordan and Raven Jordan, three sisters: Lura Tennison of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Debby Nichols and husband harry of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Celia LeGrand and husband Paul of Okmulgee, six nieces and nephews: Jackie Reagan, Clinton Keahey, Dana Jordan, Steven Nichols, Pat LeGrand and Kim Carter and numerous other family and friends. A graveside service honoring Larry’s life and military service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Okmulgee Cemetery with James Mills officiating. The family will be present at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee on Sunday from 1:00 – 6:00 P.M. The family request memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
