On Jean Emile's birth record his mother (Modeste Jugan) was single & his father was not identified. It is clear that Julien M. Angot was working in the French Grand Banks fishery at the time & was a transient resident of St. Pierre & Miquelon. Within a couple of years he & Modeste were raising their family together in Newfoundland. So, it is likely likely that Julien was the father of Jean Emile but there is no confirmation of this event. These records will treat Jean Emile as the first born, biological child of the couple.
Unfortunately, there is no record of Jean Emile either in St. Pierre or in Newfoundland. The records at this time were very good in the French Colony & it is clear that If he had died in St. Pierre & Miquelon, the records would show this event but because there is no record it is likely that Jean Emile came to Newfoundland with his parents at around the age of 3-4 & died here.
The records for Fortune Bay where the couple settled, are generally poor & provide no record of Jean Emile Jugan (Angot).
