Christophe Jung was the son of Nicolas Jung and Barbe Baccus. He was born in Brouviller and baptized in Lixheim on 12 December 1733.[1] Christophe, like his father, worked as a laborer in Brouviller.
Christophe married Anne Marie Jung, his second cousin (through great-grandparents Oury Jung and Anne Schwartz) on 15 February 1756.[2] The couple remained in Brouviller and became the parents of:
At some point between 1770 and 1773, Christophe became mayor of Brouviller, a position that had previously been held by his grandfather and great-grandfather. Christophe remained mayor through Antoine's birth in 1779, becoming a municipal magistrate at some later point. He held the latter position until his death.
In the Cahier de Doleances de Brouviller, published in April 1789, Christophe is named as président,[3] likely reflecting his role as magistrate.[4]
Christophe passed away in Brouviller on 21 August 1790, at the age of 56.[5]
