A "häradsspelman" is a Swedish term that translates to "district musician" or "county musician" in English. Historically, häradsspelmen were traditional folk musicians who played music in their local districts or counties in Sweden. They were often skilled in playing traditional Swedish folk instruments such as the fiddle, nyckelharpa (a keyed fiddle), or flute, and they played an important role in preserving and passing down traditional Swedish folk music from generation to generation. Today, häradsspelmen may still exist in some regions of Sweden, although the tradition may have evolved or diminished in certain areas over time.
