  4. Obituary: MR. J. J. KANE The death occurred suddenly at Henty on Saturday, afternoon last of Mr. John Joseph Kane, aged 60 years, a former resident of Junee. Not so many years ago, the late Mr. Kane went to Dorrigo in the P.M.G. service, and afterwards came to Henty to take up residence. He recently retired from the Department after 30 years' service, during which he was conspicuous for his conscientious work as tek-phone linesman. At Junee he married Miss Mary Kiss, and, in addition to his widow, he is survived by five sorrowing children : Dennis (Albury), Kath (Henty), Therese (Mrs. K. Bourke, Henty), John and Michael (Henty). He is also survived by five brothers : Patrick (Belmore), Vincent (Lakemba), Bernard (Sydney), Ned (Gosford) and Dennis (Lake Cargellico), also one sister, Mrs. D. Dooley (Newcastle). Deceased was a veteran of World War I, and he leaves a large chain of relatives and friends in the Junee and Henty districts. A devout member of the Catholic Church, he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the BLA.C.B.S., and was a former president of the Junee branch of the latter.
