Julius and Emma Kauschke had a large family, but Gudrun Scarcella (nee Kauschke) cannot remember their names, as she was only very young. She does remember a Tante (Aunt ) Hedwig Schwarz, who was living in Berlin, the youngest of Julius’ brothers and sisters. This Hedwig seems to have been the Hedwig Czerny on Andreas' site, who married Bruno Kauschke, brother of Wilhelm. So not an aunt by blood, but by marriage. Bruno died in 1944, leaving Hedwig and a daughter named Lydia. Hedwig married again after the war, but although Gudrun and her mother stayed there for eight months before coming to Australia, she cannot remember the second husband’s surname. He may have been a Schwartz. There was also a Tante Anna who was married to a butcher in Bunzlau, but which side of the family she was on, we do not know. (Lydia married Alfred Gaffrey and had a son Manfred, with whom we have been in touch. He lives in Graz, Austria.)
