Biography

Mark was born in 1848.

Appeared in the 1871 Canada Census in Georgina, York, Ontario. The household included: Joseph age 67, occupation farmer; Mary age 63; Charles age 30; Margret age 28; Susan age 24; Mark age 22, occupation farmer; Martha age 20, student; Edith age 18.

Mark appeared in the Newmarket Era on 17 Jan 1873. The article is as follows:

Georgina and North Gwillimbury. The annual meeting of the Agricultural Union Society of Georgina and North Gwillimbury, was held at Jos. Sheppard's hotel, Stutton, on January 11th, 1873. The President, Mr. Angus Ego, in the chair . . . Moved by Mr. Joseph Sheppard, seconded by D. F. Watson, the followin named gentlemen be appointed Directors for the current year: - Messrs. John McDonald, Joseph Sheppard, George Hamilton, John Donnell, George Ardell, James Bain, Donald Calder, James Thornber & Mark Kay. - Carried.

Appeared in the 1883 Tax Assessment in Georgina, York, Ontario.

Appeared in the 1891 Canada Census in Brock, Ontario. The household included: Mark age 42, occupation carpenter; Catharine age 38; Alicia age 14; Alex age 12; Eustas age 7.

Mark appeared in the Newmarket Era on 25 February 1910. The article is as follows:

Brownhill - Quite an accident happened here last Friday. While Mr. Edward Keller was helping Mr. Mark Kay to load logs, the derrick fell and struck Mr. Miller (sic Keller) in the head, knocking out two of his teeth and hurting his shoulder. It was caused by the breaking of the guy rope.

Moved 1893 to Greenwood, BC

Historical documents show Mark dying in British Columbia. If that is true, then he abandoned Cora. She remained in Ontario until her death.
