Biography

Mary (Kearney) Arnott was born in Ireland.

Mary (Kearney) Arnott was an Irish famine orphan who emigrated to Australia between 1848-1850.

Mary was born about 1832 possibly at Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland^[1]

Mary arrived in Port Philip, Victoria, Australia on 9 Aug 1849 on board the "New Liverpool", a ship that carried Irish Orphan Girls to Australia between 1848 and 1850 as part of the "Earl Grey Scheme". She was 17, and a resident of the Dungarvan, Waterford Poorhouse, coparents are listed. On her arrival she was employed by D. Fitzgerald, Belfast (Port Fairy) for £12 and 6 months.^[2]

She married Michael Cummins around 1851 at Belfast^[3], but no registration has been found.

After her husband's death in 1864 she went on to marry William Arnott^[4] in 1872 in Victoria.

Mary Arnott died^[5] on 27 Jan 1892 at South Hamilton, Victoria and is buried^[6] in the Hamilton Cemetery.
