Hannah was born in 1853 in Sheerness, Kent[1]. She was the daughter of Charles Keep and Mary Pearce.

Charles Keep, aged 41 and born in Newark, Nottinghamshire was living with his wife Mary, aged 37 and apparently born in Landeniath, Cornwall. He gave his occupation as ships cook. With them are four children: Charlotte (10), and Hannah (7) who were both scholars, Charles (2) and William (3mo). All the children had been born in Sheerness, Kent.
