Josiah was born about 1815 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. His family moved to Cooper County, Missouri about 1822. Josiah Keeton first married in 1838, Benton County, Missouri to Elizabeth Humphries, daughter of Josiah's cousin William Humphries. They had one child, whose name is variously spelled Cyntha, Synthia, Cynthia (the name of Elizabeth's mother, Cyntha Manning). Josiah, by then "Joseph" remarried, to Mildred Reed (who had two sisters who were married to two of Joe's brothers). They were parents of children Lycurgus, Malvina F., Aristina, Theodore, and Randolph.. He passed away about 1880.[1]
