It is with extreme regret we chronicle the death of Mr George Kempton, who for some time past has been manager of the Gwalia State Hotel, on Saturday evening last. He recently returned from his annual leave, and was far from well Dr Carlile attended him for a few days, and for a while appeared to be on the improve, but on Saturday serious symptoms set in and the doctor called, but he bold out little hope of him seeing through the night, which prediction proved corrcet as he passed away an hour or two afterwards.

The late Mr Kempton had been a martyr to asthma for some years, and pneumonia and pluerisy intervening in his weak state of health, was the immediata cause of of his death. The deceased was very popular with all classes of the community, and was most unassuming and always gentlemanly in his manner, which made for him a legion friends, who will regret his demise. Hs was most conscientous in all his dealings, both with the State Hotel Department and the customers of the hostelry. He was a capable manager, and the Department will find his place hard to fill.

He leaves a widow to mourn his Ioss, and who was the recipient of numerous letters, telegrams, and verbal messages of sympathy in her sad bereavement. The funeral cortege was a very large one which followed the remains to their last resting place in the Leonora General Cemetery.
