Biography

James was born September 12, 1874, in Van Buren County, Arkansas. He was the son of James Kennedy and Elizabeth Jackson.

He married Eva Jolliff on September 22, 1895, in Bourbon County, Kansas. They had five children, two that died as infants. Eva died a month after the birth of her last child.

James married Sophie Porter Noble on July 5, 1905, in Carter County, Oklahoma. They had four children, one that died at birth.

From 1895 to 1910, the family lived in Pottsboro, Grayson County, Texas, where James was a farmer. By 1914, the family lived in Madill, Marshall County, Oklahoma, where James owned a hardware store. By 1920, the family lived in Pottsboro, Grayson County, Texas, where James returned to farming. By 1930, and until 1940, the family lived in Denison, Grayson County, Texas, where James worked as a grocer.

By 1941, he and his wife Sophie lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. He died there on December 20, 1941. He was buried at Preston Bend Cemetery in Pottsboro, Grayson County, Texas.
