- Source notes: Grand-dad, Edwin Silas Ennis used to tell me stories about Lt. John Barkdull and Sarah. She was supposed to have been a very close descendent of Lord Kennedy, the Earl of Cassilis of Ayr, Scotland. According to grand-dad, uncle Silas had a number of family papers proving the relationship and also a Kennedy crest very old. I started with the idea of tracing this branch of the family, but other than learning that her name was Sarah Dicks, I've found nothing. I found the name Sarah on an old deed and found their marriage certificate which gave the Dicks part.
