Biography
William was born in 1845. He was the son of Charles Kensington and Olivia Maturin. [1]
- Christening Date: 4 August 1845
- Christening Place: Llanystumdwy, Caernarvon, Wales[2]
UK Census Date 1861: Living with his parents and 8 siblings in High Street, Bruton, Somersetshire, England. Aged 15. Also in the household were two servants.
William emigrated from England to New Zealand with his parents and siblings on the ship William Miles, arriving on 12 November 1862, during the New Zealand Maori land wars.
He married Emily Selina Ormsby in 1868.[3]
They had one son; George Maturin (b. 1870).
He probably married, secondly, Amy Kenny in 1873.[4]
They had at least 8 children; Louisa Mildred, Olivia Isabella, Hubert Maturin, Charles Norman, Blanche Mary, Margaret Amy, George Neville William and Roland Geoffrey.
His wife Amy passed away in 1906.
He passed away in 1922 at the age of 77. [5]
