Biography

Johannes Kercher probably was born around 1707 in Untertürkheim. His father was the master cooper Johannes Kercher^[1]. On 11 Sep 1731 he married Maria Magdalena Hammer^[1]. The couple had the following children:

1. Johannes (born 1 Oct 1734^[2]);
2. Maria Rosina (born 7 Sep 1736^[3]);
3. Anna Maria (born 13 Feb 1740^[4]);
4. Georg Adam (born 22 Aug 1744^[5] - 9 May 1754^[6]);
5. Christina Jacobina Kercher (25 Jul 1747^[7]).

Johannes died on 30 Nov 1762^[8].

Note

The year of birth is estimated from the age at death, 55 years. A birth record has not been located, however, and the place of birth is a conjecture based on Zwicker^[9] who surmised that the family must have moved to Untertürkheim some time prior to 1705, when the marriage record of Johannes' older brother^[10] states that their father Johannes was a citizen of Untertürkheim.
