Hugh Frederick Kewley was born in 1895 in Ballarat East, Victoria, Australia, the son of Emily (Cunningham) Kewley and William Henry Albert Edward Kewley.[1]
Sergeant Frederick Hugh Kewley Regimental number 884, enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the the 15th of September 1914. He was assigned to the 14th Battalion, G Company and this unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A38 Ulysses on 22 December 1914. Sergeant Kewley continued serve with the 14th Battalion until he was Killed in Action on the 1st of May 1915 at the age of only 19 years. His Place of Burial was Courtney's and Steel's Post Cemetery (Special Memorial 28), Gallipoli, Turkey. And is found on the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour #73.
