In 1903 he was still a farmer at Upper Hutt, but now both he and his wife were listed on the Huitt Electoral Roll[10]. By 1914 he was a labourer living at Henry Street, Upper hutt[11], being listed on the Hutt Supplementary Electoral Roll. Sarah was still on the Main Roll.
By 1925 he was a carpenter living at Exeter Street, Levin, being registered on the Manawatu Electoral Roll[12]. Both his wife and daughter Doris were on the same Roll. He was still there in 1949[13], but now on the Otaki Electoral Roll with his wife and three children.
Alan died on 3 September 1954[14]. He was buried in Old Levin Cemetery, Levin[15]. His probate was granted at Palmerston North[16].
