James Beverley Kierstead was born on 29 Jul 1890 in Forest Hill, Elgin, Albert, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Alfred Adeno Kierstead (1862 - 1945) and Seraphine Annetta Douthwright (1871 - 1960).

James married Maria Anne Humphrey (born in Ireland on 22 Apr 1892; died in Moncton, Westmorland, New Brunswick on 19 Dec 1931) on 29 Oct 1912 in Moncton. Their daughter was Mamie Barbara Kierstead (1918 - ).
James died on 14 Jun 1969 in Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia aged 78. He is buried in Amherst Cemetery, Amherst, Nova Scotia.[1]
