Biography
William was born 2 February 1871 in Crawford County, Arkansas to Francis Marion Kimes and Louisa Adeline Elkins. In the 1880 census William (age 9), At Home, was the son of Francis M. Kimes in Van Buren, Crawford, Arkansas, United States.[1]
William (age 26) married Arletta J Anderson (age 25) on 27 June 1897 in Lawrence, Missouri, United States.[2][3][4]
In the 1900 census William (age 29) was the married head of household in Buck Prairie Township, Lawrence, Missouri, United States.[5]
In the 1920 census Wm (age 48) was the married head of household in Lucerne, Kings, California, United States.[6]
In the 1930 census Wm (age 59) was the married head of household in Pueblo de las Juntas, Fresno, California, United States.[7]
In the 1940 census William (age 69) was the married head of household in Atascadero Judicial Township, San Luis Obispo, California, United States.[8]
William, son of Kimes & Elkins, died (age 78) on 24 February 1949 in Ontario,San Bernardino, California[9] and was buried in Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, San Bernardino, California.[10]

"When Dad’s (Joseph Leander Kimes) children left Arkansas and moved to California, they lived with Bill and Lettie and made that their home until they married. They often referred to Bill as Dad. This hurt our Dad’s feelings very much. I don’t think the children realized it, or they would not have referred to Bill as Dad in their own father’s presence. Bill and Lettie were both very jovial people. Our Dad was a very quiet person."
