Note: She was 18 when her family moved from Massachusetts to Galt, Ontario, where Vera met and later married Alexander Kersell. Vera and her husband raised two children and spent their married lives in Buffalo and Niagra Falls, New York. After her husband's death in 1961, Vera moved to Yorba Linda, California where she enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo, and associating with her many friends. An avid card player and traveller, Vera enjoyed her many trips around the USA, Canada, Hawaii and Alaska. She moved to Bakersfield in 1988 to live with her daughter, Jean Nafus.
'She will always be remembered for her loving ways, her joy of life, her wonderful sense of humour and ageless quick wit. She lived and experienced a life that only someone of her years could tell tales of. She had many interesting and amazing stories to tell. She loved to reminisce about people and times that she held close to her.'
