Biography

Dermot Kirby was born about Feb 1787^[1] in the rural townland of Rathjordan in the civil parish of Rathjordan. He was the son of James Kirby Sr.^[2] and Margaret Shinnors of Rathjordan.^[3] Dermot was baptized on 6 Feb 1787 in the Catholic parish of Bruff, with sponsors John Hayes and Mary Shinnors.^[1] Bruff was most likely the home parish of his mother, as his parents were married there. ^[4]

I have not been able to find any marriage or death records for Dermot Kirby of this age and place.

Baptisms for the Catholic parish of Hospital & Herbertstown, which was the Catholic parish for Rathjordan, were not recorded until 11 Jan 1810.
