Biography

Ursula Kirk was born in Ireland.

Ursula Crothers Kirk was born on April 13, 1901 at Townparks, Comber, Newtownards, County Down, Ireland. She is the daughter of William James Kirk, a labourer, and Rebecca (Shields) Kirk.^[1][2] She had an older brother and older sister. She was named after her maternal grandmother who had a slightly different spelling of her name, i.e. Ursilla.

Sadly, Ursula's life was to be very short. She died at Crescent, Comber, from acute bronchitis, suffered for only four days, on 20th January 1903. ^[3][4] She was one year and nine months old. The year after Ursula's death, a younger brother was born to complete the family.

Research Notes

Middle name:

There is a discrepancy in the spelling of Ursula's middle name in her birth and death records. In the birth record it is spelt: "Crothers". In the death record it is spelt: "Caruthers." The name comes from her maternal grandmother's maiden name, and is also spelt differently in those records, so there is often inconsistency about the correct spelling.

Ursula's burial location needs to be researched.
