David Kistler was born in 1806 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States, the son of Henry Kistler and Mary (Asherbranner) Kistler. He was the brother of Eva Rosina (Kistler) Shuford, Anna (Kistler) Yoder and Jacob Kistler.
David married first Margrette Allison on September 24, 1829 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. [1] They had the following children:

David married second Martha McMurray in 1870 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States. Martha was born in 1844. [2] They had the following children:
