Biography

Friedrich Wilhelm Eduard Kleimenhagen was born 17 Jan 1863 in Herrenbreitungen (now part of Breitungen/Werra), near Schmalkalden, to the farmer Johann Michael August Kleimenhagen and his second wife Anna Elisabeth, née Königshof. The entry says:

[1863] No. 223: On January 17th at 1 a.m. was born, and baptized on the 30th, Friedrich Wilhelm Eduard Kleimenhagen, 7th child (1st of 2nd marriage) 2nd son (1st of 2nd marriage) of the farmer (Ackermann) Johann Michael August Kleimenhagen of Reformed confession and his Lutheran wife Anna Elisabeth, née Königshof. Godparent was the court bailiff and prison guard Friedrich Wilhelm Morin here. ^[1]

He immigrated with his wife and children to the United States in 1903, leaving Hamburg on 07 May 1903 on the SS Auguste Victoria. ^[2] They settled in Rock County, Wisconsin.^[3]

He became a naturalized citizen in 1916.^[4][5]

Death and Burial: William died of an heart attack in Edgerton, Wisconsin on 10 Oct 1937 and was buried in Fassett Cemetery. ^[6]

His Obituary in The Capital Times from 13 Oct 1937, Wed · Page 4 reads:

Missing Egerton Man Found Dead – EGERTON – Missing from his home here since shortly after noon Sunday, William Kleimenhagen Sr., 75, retired farmer, was found dead yesterday on the Milwaukee road right-of-way, 500 feet west of W. Fulton st. Death was attributed to a heart attack by Coroner Theodore Overton, Janesvill. The body was discovered by Erv Gardner, Milwaukee road brakeman. - Mr. Kleimenhagen made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Kleimenhagen Jr. The younger Mr. Kleimenhagen Sunday night notified local police that his father was missing. - Surviving Mr. Kleimenhagen, besides his son here, are two other sons, Ernest, Janesville; Louis, Indian Ford; five daughters, Mrs. Leo Frisch, Madison; Mrs. Fred Teubert, Janesville; Mrs. Lawrence Hanson, Ft. Atkinson; Mrs. George Dallman, Freeport; Mrs. George Ide, Chicago. - Born in Germany, Mr. Kleimenhagen had been an Egerton resident since 1903. Funeral services will be held here at 1:30 tomorrow in the Henry Tellefson funeral home, and at 2 in the German Lutheran church, with the Rev. J. C. Spillman officiating. Burial will be in Fassett cemetery. ^[7]
