[direct transcription, see references] The Knoertzer family history began (as far as we know now) in Treschklingen, Germany where Johann Balthes was born in 1701. After his marriage to Maria Dorothea Mayer, he and his family immigrated to America in 1738 on the Charming Nancy. Maria Dorothea died at sea. They had the following children: Maria Catharina b. 1725; Georg Christoph b. ca. 1727; Baltzer, Jr. b. ca. 1729; Maria Dorothea b. ca. 1731; Eva Barbara b. 1733; Johann Georg b. 1735 (died early); Christina b. 1736.
