Marie C. Riebold, nee Kohne, age 99, of Highland, IL, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born December 18, 1909, in St. Jacob, IL, the daughter of William and Martha (Haenni) Kohne. On November 26, 1930, she married Oscar A. Riebold, who passed away May 15, 1987. Marie grew up in St. Jacob and at age 16 moved with her family to Lebanon, IL. She and her husband farmed at Lebanon; from 1936-1949 they farmed in the Troy-Blackjack area, returning to farm at Lebanon in 1949. They moved to Highland in 1973 after they retired. Together they enjoyed traveling; she has been on 14 different tours including Hawaii and Europe. She also enjoyed playing cards and eating out. She was a very good seamstress and a good cook. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL. She was also a member of St. Anne Altar Society, Weinheimer Senior Citizens in Highland, and a former member of Sanitary Milk Producers. Survivors include a son, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Orville H. Riebold, a daughter-in-law Leona Riebold, a granddaughter-in-law Tina M. Riebold, 3 brothers, John H. Kohne, Albert H. Kohne, and Clarence L. Kohne, and a sister Cornelia E. Kohne.
