"Edith F. Vigneron, wife of J. W. Vigneron, Born May 11, 1878 Died March 26, 1904, She was a kind and affectionate wife, a fond mother, and friend to all." is buried only a few plots distant, as is Phillip Schmuck, March 15, 1865 - October 31, 1920.
Hannah is the name recorded while her husband in alive. Amanda in the name she used for record following Christian's death, about 1880. She also begins, about 1860, to record she was born in New Jersey, as does Christian & his brothers. This is factually incorrect, IT does draw one to look towards New Jersey for a Christian Schmuck.
My aunt Sadie gave me her genealogical papers in October 1982, and told me that Sarah Schmuck, my great grandmother, was from an important family to Colonial New Jersey. This had been from mother-to-daughter talks, for generations. I set them aside, and looked at them twenty-seven years later.
From their onomastic naming traditions, which follow, as I was raised, lead me to think her father is probably named William Konkle.
