Joseph Arthur Labossiere was born at Montreal on Sept. 17, 1871 and he was baptized there the next day at Saint-Enfant-de-Jesus church. ^{[1] [2]} He is the ninth of 12 known children and the sixth of seven sons of Joseph Labossiere and Justine Lamoureux.

Arthur and his family moved to Marlborough, MA sometime before 1880, possibly as early as 1872. They are found at Marlborough, MA in the 1880 census. This includes eight of their nine surviving children. US Census 1880 ^[3] Massachusetts-Middlesex-Marlborough Page 48, Dist 60, ED 402 P. 48, lines 40-51 Joseph Labossiere, 50; wife, Josephen, (Justine nee Lamoureux), 43; Eight children, including one married daughter and a grand daughter. Julia Labossiere, 23; her husband, Peter Bartram, 24; Andre, (Henri Treffle), Labossiere, 19; Joseph, 16; Francis, (Francois), 15; Clofos, (Cleophas), 11; Arthur, 9; Anna, 7; Eugene, 4; grand daughter, Josephine Bartram, 9 months, born MA. All others born in Canada. Census date: June 14, 1880.

[There is some conflict about whether the last three children were actually born in Canada as the marriage record of, Roseanna, the 10th. child shows her born at Marlborough about 1873.

1900 US Census Massachusetts Middlesex Marlborough Ward 5 ED 859 Sheet 14B Line 97 Arthur Labossiere, 29 boarder, single, shoe factory. ^[4] Census date: June 11, 1900. This appears to be the family of Arthur's future brother in law, Napoleon Blanchard who married his sister, Rose in 1901.

1910 US Census Massachusetts Middlesex Marlborough Ward 3 ED 914 Sheet 10B Lines 70-74 Arthur Labossiere 39 single boarder shoe factory living with his married sister Rose Blanchard and her family. ^[5] Census date: April 23, 1910.

1920 US Census Massachusetts Middlesex Marlborough Ward 3 ED 298 Sheet 2B Lines 70-72 Arthur Labossiere, 45 single, boarder, shoe factory. He appears to be living with his sister, Rose's mother in law and her daughter. ^[6] Census date: Jan. 23-24, 1920.

Arthur Labossiere has not been found in the 1930 US census. An Arthur Labossiere died in 1927 at Marlborough, MA. This was found at Ancestry in the Massachusetts death index, 1901-1980. There is no way to be certain that this is the correct Arthur Labossiere, but as it is in Marlborough, it most likely correct.
