Biography

John Henry^[1] Ladd was born about 1878^[2] in Tennessee. On February 17th, 1900 in Dickson County, Tennessee, he was married to Eva Porter Madden. Together they had at least ten children. John's origins are unclear, as is his death. He disappears after the 1930 Census in Houston County, Tennessee, and his wife appears with their children in the same county ten years later, alone - although she gives her status as married. On Eva's death certificate in 1948, she is also noted as married. If you have more information about John's family or life, please add it here! Any help is appreciated.

2. ↑ The earliest written record of his age is in 1900, where he is living with his in-laws. They listed the birth month as "un," so it was likely his wife's parents that was the informant; they may have gotten the year wrong. In 1910, the age is similiar (born about 1879), but in 1920 and 1930, the ages align closer to 1873 and 1870. The best guess is a birth date somewhere in the 1870s.
