Brousseau-236 Roger Brousseau
Her official last name is Lafleur, as written on the baptismal church records. Her father’s name Brousseau dit Lafleur is written in the text. I have contacted people before about this and the name written by the priest must be the name used as official. I can of course write her name as Brousseau dite Lafleur but it is unnecessary since I have added both Lafleur and Brousseau as last names. It is not possible to put Brousseau dite Lafleur as her last name since it cannot be searched unless the actual spelling is used. It is better to put only one last name and then have an alternate last name which is what I did. She has some brother and sisters with the last name Brousseau and some as Lafleur. I have to list what the priest entered in the record.

Was "Lafleur" a "dite" name ? If yes, you should consult with the Quebec Project on how to use "dit" or "dite" names for Quebec naming conventions. I believe her last name at birth should be "Brousseau" if that was her baptismal name and her father's name. "Brousseau dite Lafleur" can be her "Current last name" or an "Other Last Name"...
