The Census records his birthplace as New York, His Father's birthplace as New Jersey and his Mother's birthplace as Ireland.

I don't have total proof this is the Father of Charles Laird, but when Charles Laird moved his Family to Webster County Iowa, 1902/3. The Thomas Lairds moved too.
