DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joel:

To Doug Duncan, Albert Taylor, or others:

I am Norman Lake and our family is descended from the Lakes who were in Tiverton, RI in the 1600's and 1700's so I am interested in your connection to David, Joel sr., and Joseph and their descendents who are in your line. 30 years ago, my father, my brother, and I visited the Duanesburg, NY area where we believe John L Lake was born in 1804. He eventually moved further west in NY and finally to Michigan. We have not been able to locate a birth certificate or death certificate for him although we know where he is buried and have pictures of his tombstone. If you have any information for John L Lake, that would be very helpful since we are missing proof of who his parents were. There are at least 2 theories that seem credible (Brownel Lake Jr. or Joseph Lake who was the son of Joel).
