Biography

1900 census shows that Dorothea had been married 35 years, with 5 children born and 3 living. The family tradition was that two daughters had died aboard ship during their immigration. No record of this or their names are yet known.

The census of 1860 shows the following information, which places Claus, his wife Elsabe, son August, son Wilhelm, and daughter Dorothea, all born in Giekau.
