JEAN FRANCOIS LANGLOIS VERTEFEUILLE Status : Immigrant
Jean François was baptized on 30 May 1711 in Trois-Rivières, English in nation, no last name for him was recorded, he is given the age of around 12 on the record. His godparents were Jean François Desrosiers and Marie Françoise de Laforce.[2] Jetté puts his birth at either 1692 or 1698.[3]
He only used the name Vertefeuille on all records found for him. It is possible that the name was originally Greenleaf in New England. How he arrived in Canada is unknown, possibly captive of a native tribe in a raid, brought here and raised by locals. No parents are named for him anywhere.

Jean François Vertefeuille, of English nationality, resident of Nicolet, married Marie Marguerite Dupuis, daughter of the late Jacques Dupuis and of Marie Madeleine Prévost, on 27 June 1722 in Trois-Rivières.[5] (Note: Both those born in England and in New England were said to be English)
9 known children to the couple, 5 known to die young, and 4 to marry. They were established in the seigneurie of Nicolet.[6]
Death
François Vertefeuille died on 15 March 1764 and was buried on the 16th in Nicolet, the record giving him around 72 years of age.[7]
