Elie was born about 1835/1838, Putnam, Georgia, as a slave farm hand, owned by Allen Lawrence Sr. and found in the 1850 Slave schedule and possibly the 1840 Census under slave. In about September of 1859 before the beginning of the Civil War, she became ill with Typhoid Fever and died 60 days later on December 1859 at the age of 21. Her parents are unknown.
