Dr. Clyde W. Lee was born June 21st, 1884, at Jackson, HInds County, Mississippi. He is the son of George Lee.
His biography was included in the book, "The Negro at Mound Bayou."[1]
He attended Alcorn A. and M. College, Tougaloo University, and Meharry Medical College, graduating with honor in1907.[1]
In the 1900 census Clyde (age 16) was the single son of George A Lee in Beat 3, Bolivar, Mississippi, United States.[2]
Clyde Lee married Miss Lelia M. Creswell, the eldest daughter of Mayor and Mrs. B. Howard Creswell, on 6 August 1907 in Bolivar, Mississippi.[3]
On 6 April 1910 Clyde (age 26) and Leila (age 24) appeared on the census in Mound Bayou, Bolivar County, Mississippi. Clyde listed his occupation as Medical Practitioner and they had two children:
By 1920, it appears that their young daughter, B. D. Lee had died (she doesn't appear on the 1920 census). Lelia and son, Clyde W. Lee, Jr., are living in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. She reported that she was widowed. However, Dr. Lee appears on the 1930 census still in Mound Bayou.
On the 1930 census Dr. Lee (age 45) was rooming with Burgess F Brooks in Mound Bayou, Bolivar, Mississippi. He was reported as married.[5]
