Caterina Leggio (also “Liggio”) is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Filippo Liggio and Angela Ducibella, who married in 1711.
Caterina marries Francesco Raino (usually “Praino” and later, “Piranio”), son of the late Giovanni Piranio and Sigismonda, on 8 February 1734.[1]
Caterina and Francesco have at least seven children: Sigismonda (c. 1734), Angela (c. 1736), Giovanni (c. 1738), Mariano (c. 1741), Filippo (c. 1743), Anna (c. 1749), and Antonina (c. 1754).
Sigismonda is born around 1734, based on her reported age at death.
Angela is named after her maternal grandmother.
I estimate Giovanni is born within a few years of his parents' marriage. He is named after his paternal grandfather, traditional for the first born son.
I estimate Mariano is close to his sister's age.
I estimate Filippo is born after Giovanni. He is named after his maternal grandfather.
I estimate Anna is 20 when she marries.
I estimate Antonina is also 20 when she marries.
Sigismonda marries Pietro Scimonetto on 28 April 1754. This record does not give Caterina's surname.[2]
Angela marries Leoluca Restivo on 28 November 1764 in Corleone.[3]
Giovanni marries Anna Caviato on 7 January 1765.[4]
Anna marries Domenico Mangiameli on 24 April 1769 in Corleone.
[5]
Antonina marries Leoluca Puccio on 11 April 1774.[6]
Mariano marries Paola Saltaformaggio on 23 September 1781. Mariano's marriage record gives his mother's surname as "di Giglia" but reports Caterina's first name is "Andrea," a man's name. I believe this is a transcription error. Cascio-10 16:30, 8 November 2016 (EST) [7]
Filippo marries Antonia Paragro’ on 25 April 1782 in Corleone.[8]
Sigismonda dies at age 73 (b. 1734) on 4 September 1807. Pietro survives her.[9]
