Biography

Thomas Legh, DD^[1]

Thomas was a younger son of Peter Legh and his first wife Margaret, daughter of Gilbert Gerard.^[2]

On 13 June, 1629, the Archdeaconry of Chester issued Thomas Leghe and Letitia Calveley a licence to marry without proclamation of banns, addressed to Reverends Jeynson, Vicar of Prestbury, Cheshire, and Richardson, Clerks; Bondsman: Francis Leghe, Gent.^[3] Lettice was the daughter of Sir George Calveley of Lea, Cheshire, and coheir of her brother Sir Hugh Calveley.^[1]

2. Richard Legh of Lyme, Cheshire, born 7 May, 1634, died 31 August, 1687,^[1] married by licence dated 31 December, 1660, Elizabeth daughter of Sir Thomas Chicheley of Wimpole, Cambridgeshire, she died 1728;^[1]
3. Thomas Legh of Blackley, Lancashire & Lyme, Cheshire (b. 06 Oct 1636 - d. 22 Sep 1697; bur. Macclesfield).^[4]

He was the rector of Sefton,^[2] From 1631-9, Thomas was rector of Walton on the Hill, Lancashire, England.^[1]

Thomas Legh, DD, died in 1639.^[1]
