OBITUARY. DEATH OF MR. B. LENNON. After an illness extending over twelve months Mr. Bernard Lennon passed to the Great Beyond on Friday afternoon last. The late Mr. Lennon was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lennon, of 'Red Bank,' Little Plain, and was 40 years of age at the time of his demise. Up to within two years ago he was a fine upstanding man of splendid physique, and appeared lo be as hale and hearty as the best. However, a malignant growth developed internally, and despite the best of medical skill and the attention of a kind and loving wife and family, he gradually pined away, and expired as stated above. During the latter part of his illness he removed from his property, 'Bon Ac-, cord,' near Delungra, to his father's home at Little Plain. Right to the last be bore his affliction with splendid fortitude, and chatted cheerfully with those nearest and dearest to him until ihe 'dusky strand of Death relieved him of all earthly worries. It was, indeed, a peaceful and fitting ending to a man of such sterling qualities, and the bereaved ones can take solace in the knowledge that death was robbed of its terror in his case at least. The late Mr. 'Barney' Lennon was born in the Emmaville district, but spent his early manhood days at 'Woodstock,' near Uralla. About 10 years ago he came to reside in the Inverell district, and purchased a property near Delungra. He subsequently disposed of this land, and engaged in the auctioneering and commission agency business in Delungra. He was thus employed for several years, during which period he identified himself with all public movements for the advancement of his own and the Inverell district. As straight as a rush in all his dealings, and possessing a particularly genial temperament, he quickly earned widespread popularity, and was held in the highest esteem by all with whom he came in contact, and the news of his passing out was received with manifold tokens of regret on all sides. The 'call of the land' again proved irresistible, and a shade over two years ago he disposed of his Delungra business and purchased 'Bon Accord,' about four miles from the township. The deceased married a Miss Hill, of Walcha, who, with four little children — three boys and a girl — survive him, and to them the utmost sympathy has been extended in their hour of affliction. The. eldest child is aged seven years and the youngest two years. As previously stated, the deceased's parents also survive him, as also do the following brothers and sisters: . James (Emmavilie), Charles (Delungra), William (Texas), Michael (Ashford), John (Inverell), and Mesdames Brennan [Emmaville), Kniepp (Ashford), and Reeves (Little Plain). The funeral took place on Saturday, the remains being laid to rest in the Delungra cemetery. The cortege was an exceptionally large one. The Very Rev. Dean O'Neill conducted the impressive burial service, and Mr. B. M. Wade had charge of the mortuary arrangement.
