Biography

Isaiah Lewis was born about 1834 in Madoc, Hastings, Upper Canada. He was the son of John Lewis and Mary (Richardson) Lewis.

Isaiah was raised in Madoc, Hastings County, Ontario. After his father passes away Isaiah is the head of his mother's household in 1861. Isaiah's cousin, Marshall Bidwell Scrimshaw, is listed just below him on that census. His cousins wife, Hannah Lewis, is possibly a sister to Isaiah.[1] [2]

Isaiah married Catherine F. Bowen on the 16th of March,1864 in Lennox and Addington, Ontario, Canada.[3]

They had the following children;

Isaiah is listed in the Elziver Directory for 1868-1869, along with a Samuel Lewis. In 1871 the census shows him as living in Madoc again. [4] [5][6]

Isaiah Lewis, at 48 years of age, died from Typhoid Fever on the 28th of April 1883 in Deseronto, Hastings, Ontario, Canada.[7]
